Paul Hubbard.

With a career spanning over two decades, Paul Hubbard brings a wealth of experience and insight to our legal team at Downie Stewart. Originally hailing from Fairlie, South Canterbury, Paul's legal journey began at the University of Otago before he ventured into the mergers and acquisitions and banking and finance sectors in Wellington.

Relocating back to Dunedin in 2000 to start a family, Paul joined Anderson Lloyd's commercial team, eventually becoming a partner in 2008. Notable highlights of his career include his involvement in the statutory management of Allan Hubbard, where he tackled complex legal and practical issues in the farming context.

Since joining Downie Stewart in 2015, Paul has focused his practice on commercial and rural law, providing invaluable counsel to a diverse range of clients, including farmers seeking guidance on leasing and farm succession matters.

He became a Notary Public in 2021 and joined the board of Business South in 2023.

Beyond his legal expertise, Paul is an avid golfer, enjoying the competition and endless banter among his colleagues at Downie Stewart. He also enjoys gardening, whether tending to his garden in Dunedin or at his cottage in Fairlie.

With his analytical thinking and dedication to his clients and colleagues, Paul Hubbard is an invaluable asset to our firm, embodying the spirit of professionalism and camaraderie that defines Downie Stewart.
